2. Osteotomy (Bone Reshaping)

  • Procedure Overview: In some cases, reshaping the bone (e.g., removing a wedge) near the joint can redistribute pressure, improve alignment, and alleviate pain. This is often combined with a cheilectomy.

3. Arthrodesis (Joint Fusion)

  • Arthrodesis (Fusion): Requires a period of non-weight bearing (4-8 weeks) in a cast or boot, followed by gradual return to weight-bearing in a walking boot. Full healing can take 3-6 months.
